In the pandemic year, I was glad to still be able to play chess with my friends (mostly IB). In each meeting, held virtually after school, we simply challenged each other and started playing. Sometimes, members suggested relevant videos to watch or matches to analyze, like those of grandmasters that had occurred recently. As a club, we simply met to have fun through playing the game and learning new things from one another, in and out of the matches. In senior year, as President of the club, I'm helping bring people together and grow the club. Through winning and losing, playing chess has kept my grounded and helped me learn how to treat a loss and convert it into a learning experience. Through Chess Club, I've matured these IB Learner Profile traits: knowledgeable, thinkers, and inquirers.
